The Guide To Smart Phones

Smart phones are the new generation of cell phone. They are as big of an advancement as the cell phone was to the landlines. So how come more people aren’t using them? Well here I will list the pros and cons and ultimately whether or not you should invest in one, whether it is economical or not for you.

Many people do not truly understand what a smart phone is, so I will briefly tell you. A smart phone is a application device that can perform a number of tasks for you normally done by computers or PDA devices. These applications can range from finding a nearby parking lot based on your location to managing your business deals through e-mail and websites. Also you can store video and mp3 files and play them on usually very high resolution screens.

Pros: Smart phones have the capabilities of full mp3 players. Since I have bought my smart phone I no longer have the need to carry around an mp3 player in my car or on my person for trips. The amount of storage on these devices can be as much as 32GB or more depending on the model. However some only have 4GB or less which to some can be completely useless as an mp3 player.

There are some fancy new features such as the touchscreen and motion sensing inputs that can create a wholly new and unique experience for the cell phone user.

Cons: One of the biggest problems is the battery life of most smart phones. As they have a processor and do complex tasks they use up a lot of their battery. Also their bright and high resolution displays often eat up battery life. However soon to be on the market are Organic LED phones which will almost double the battery life of current smart phones.

The biggest con of owning a smart phone is the sometimes outrageous monthly fee. You can end up spending over 100 dollars a month which ends up being 1200 dollars a year on your phone service! This is on top of the 200-400 dollar price range that they typically require when you first buy the phone as well.

With all of these pros and cons considered you need to first figure out whether or not you really need this phone in your life and whether or not you can support the monthly charges. The smart phone can furfill many functions in your life, ranging from looking cool and showing off to friends, for pure entertainment value with mp3, video, and gaming capabilities, to completely operating your personal business ventures with the email and web capabilities. It mostly comes down to the cost of the phone. If you have the extra money and are willing to spend it, you will find the smart phone is a great thing to have. However if you could be using that 1000 bucks a year for something better, you really should.

Reviewing the pros and cons, to briefly summarize this up you should consider certain things such as whether you have the money around to buy one, how will it affect your personal and social life, do you really need this kind of phone, and have you done enough studying to truly figure out whether you want this or not.
