Owning A Smart Phone Has Its Advantages
The new generation of mobile communication offers so much more even though most people have adopted and adapted to cellular or mobile phones. Mobile phones do have significant value for people on the move even though some people would feel that the mobile phones are intrusive and all-consuming. Smart phones take that value a few steps further.
Your mobile phone allows you to keep in touch while you are, well, mobile. They allow you to contact others from any location which is why they are particularly handy in an emergency. Unlike before, you no longer have to leave your broken down car at the side of the road while you walk for miles trying to find a pay phone. If you remembered you needed to tell your family something back home and you’re already out driving, then you can text message them or call them. For business, mobile phones mean that your colleagues, customers and suppliers can reach you at any time, any where.
Allowing the user to send and receive emails on their phone, access the Internet, and more are smart phones and they take instant access to a new level. This would give users more freedom and will minimize the need to return to the office in order to access information or get messages. This will also mean that your life is constantly interrupted and for others, they would feel that smart phones are leading to a breakdown in face-to-face, personal communication.
If your work requires you to be out of the office for long periods of the day, a smart phone can be a blessing. While on the go, you can respond to requests and answer queries and you will be allowed to keep track of messages. For people who telecommunicate or work offsite, smart phones are as valuable as laptops.
For a parent, a mobile phone is an important tool for keeping track of children and making all the arrangements necessary when you have a family. We are living in a world of online interaction and because of smart phones, you are allowed to stay connected with friends on social networks, book movie tickets, and even make travel arrangements all from your phone.
The disadvantage of a smart phone is that it can be come almost all-consuming, giving you no free time. It is all too tempting to check your emails while having coffee with a friend, or Tweet about a restaurant while out for dinner. Teenagers in particular seem to find smart phones almost addictive, texting and BBM’ing each other constantly, often while ignoring the people they are sitting face-to-face with.
A smart phone is definitely useful as a business tool. We all learned some etiquette when cellular phones first hit the market and this is what we have to remember when we use smart phones for personal use. We should either ignore it or switch it off when you are with other people. Talking to real people is also still important.
