Help Support One Laptop per Child with Ringtone Studio…

Most people believe that they have to make do with only the ringtones that come with the iPhone. Either that or pay for new ringtones once they’re bored of the same old stuff spouting from their phones. But they’ll be pleased to learn that they are wrong! If there’s any particular song or ringtone or music track that you like a lot, then you can convert them into an iPhone compatible mode and all within your iTunes setup itself. And what’s more, you don’t have to pay anything for these.

After lots of exploring, you now probably know that the iPhone ringtones have the .M4R extension. Now all you need to do is change the name of the file extension from AAC to .M4R. Yup! That’s it!

Once the format has been renamed it will automatically appear in iTunes under the ‘Ringtones’ section. Simply connect your iPhone to iTunes, sync it and that’s all! You’re now stacked with a whole new range of ringtones of your choice for you iPhone.

This method is so straightforward that any person who is comfortable using iTunes can work on it and create some funky, new ringtones all by himself.

This method is compatible for both Windows and Mac PCs and once you get the idea of changing the file extensions, you will be able to easily create and store the ringtones that you want.

To delete these ringtones, just go to the ringtones folder under the iTunes music directory and delete them from there.

Mac users have it more easy because they can get this done through GarageBand, a software application that eases things further by letting you convert ringtones into the right format in a snap!
