Have you heard that iPhone users are far more likely to pay for applications than people who use Android OS mobile phones? A recent study shows that half of the iPhone users out there won’t have a problem paying for applications that can’t be located for free. On the flip side of that coin, only about one out of every five Android phone buyers will pay for apps. This could change as the Android market’s paid app section grows but, for now, Android users are more thrifty than iPhone users. You might not think that this is something that you should brag about but some Android users are very proud of this fact.

The more time passes, the more Android sales out perform iPhone sales. In six states the Android OS phones outsell the iPhone by quite a lot! The only problem with this study is that the states that sell more Android phones are not as developed and probably don’t actually have AT&T coverage. The iPhone can only be purchased through an AT&T provider (and used with the AT&T service) so that does influence the study. The study will probably be redone if AT&T loses it’s exclusive contract with the iPhone and more carriers start to carry the unit.

According to studies that were done not so long ago, men are more likely to use the Android OS than women are. While the study does not say why, it illustrates the fact that men are simply more likely to choose smart phones across the board than women are. In terms of the iPhone that gap is actually a lot smaller. Men make up only a little bit more than half of the total users of iPhones. Almost three quarters of Android OS users, however, are men. Why this is true is a mystery. Perhaps this is because, in terms of new technology, men seem to be more likely to run out and spend money. This study does not prove one theory or another and does not say why the numbers are the way they are.

There are a lot of rumors and shady facts that surround Google phones. The simple fact is that Google phones (the phones that use the Android OS) are becoming more widely spread throughout the cell phone market. Mobile developers are using the Android OS all the time now (HTC, Motorola and Samsung are good examples of this). It has never been easier or more easily affordable to get a smart phone. The bad news is that, well, there doesn’t really seem to be much bad news about smart phones at all does there?
