Downloading Music to Your iPod
iPods have become the most popular device for mobile music in this time period. This is because they are small and they store music in large quantities in a way that it can?t be damaged. Unlike CDs that can get scratched and make your music unplayable, iPods will not mess up your music. The biggest question that arises with an iPod is how to actually get the song to the device. Many people also want to know if you can simply download music directly to your iPod.
While there currently is no way to directly download music to an iPod there may be in the short future. Since the invention of the iPhone Apple has been able to combine an iPod with a phone that has internet capabilities. New versions of the iPod will be able to link up to iTunes and download music directly to the iPod soon enough. However, currently the easiest and best way to get music to your iPhone is through a PC. It?s important to note that even if you could download music to your iPod it could be a bad thing. Let?s say that you have downloaded 100 songs to your iPod at 99 cents each. A few months later your iPod gives out and goes dead and you can?t get your music off the device. You now have to spend another $100 roughly to buy those songs again. It?s safer to download the music to your PC and then transfer it to your iPod. This way you?ll always have a backup of the music you paid for.
If you?ve never transferred music to your iPod then the simplest way is through iTunes. The iTunes software organizes and keeps track of all the music that you have added to it. You can then choose to either move a song to the iPod or you can create what?s known as a sync list which will move all the media on that list to the iPod. You can also use iTunes to download music to your computer. You can get iTunes directly from the Apple website if you didn?t get a CD with your iPod. Your downloaded music will automatically appear in the library window after you?ve downloaded them.
Since so many people have CDs there had to be some way to transfer the music onto your iPod without having to repurchase it. Using this method you can put your entire CD collection onto a tiny device that can be taken anywhere. Just put the CD into your computer and select the Devices tab in iTunes. You should be able to view the CD and select ?Import CD?. When the songs are finished uploading you will be able to find them in your music library. Don?t forget to edit the names and titles from CDs so they appear correctly on your iPod.
The final step that you have to do is to actually put the music on the iPod. This is relatively easy once you?ve completed the above steps. Start by connecting your cord to the iPod and then plugging the USB end into the computer. You can individual songs by dragging them from the library to the iPod picture. You can also move all of the songs to your iPod with the click of a single button. Select all of the files and add them to the sync list and then click sync. Everything that?s in the sync list will be transferred to your iPod in a few minutes. This is the most effective way to getting your whole library on to your iPod.
