Discover How 2 Way Radios Are Cheaper Than Mobile Phones
2 way radios can be a bit of an unknown to many people but they are easily understood as a device that can both transmit and receive radio signals, similar in principle to a mobile phone.
You might also be more familiar with the principle if you have ever come across a walkie talkie device such as children often use, these incidentally make great gifts for them.
A mobile phone is similar in fact to a 2 way radio but it is restricted by having to be in range of the aerials and other devices used by your service provider. Radios do not have this issue, so long as they are in range of each other communication is possible anywhere in the world.
Mobile phones use a system called full duplex which means that separate frequencies are used one for transmission one for receiving.
2 way radios are actually used in a lot of areas including police work, airports and building sites but most commonly where mobile networks are weak or unreliable. There is a privacy issue to consider here as well.
It is just not cost effective for heavy users to use mobile phones if they are in range of each other such as a building site it is much more efficient to use a 2 way radio and cheaper too.
2 way radios come in to their own in places such as disaster areas, with the usual communication equipment down radios are the only option for effective communication.
Robustness is key in disaster areas there are many models of two way radios that come complete with their own casing and damage control bodywork, they are designed to take knocks.
So if you are looking to save money but still be in communication range of family and friends, consider 2 way radios as an alternative to mobile phones and their inherent costs.
