Are You Able to Do Without A Cellphone?

Okay, that might be just a bit of an exaggeration but really, many people just cant go through their days without having their useful and trusty cellphones close by. How many people do you know who get all agitated and restless for the simple reason that they forgot their trusty cellphones at home? They panic, they feel perturbed and their day is just basically ruined because their mobile phones are nowhere near them.

This kind of affliction ” if you can call it that ” affects a lot of people from across the globe, regardless of age, sex, culture or those belonging to any other demographic profile.

Before there were cellphones, there were beepers; before there were beepers, there were just the usual telephone lines; and before there were telephone lines, people communicated through telegrams and letters sent by post.

The most vital advantage of cellphones of course is that they have made communications anywhere in the world so quick that no matter the distance, everyone somehow managed to stay in each others lives ” keeping up-to-date with the latest happenings and basically just being in the loop.

Before there were cellphones, everyone had to wait for days, even weeks to trade news via post. Sure, one can always make a phone call but if someone is thousands of miles away; long distance phone calls can be pretty costly.

Thanks to the mobile phone technology, people gets to trade messages no matter how far apart they are from one another via SMS or Short Messaging System/Short Message Service ” text messaging in more popular terms.

Nowadays however, cellphones have gone far beyond text messaging and phone calls. One by one, special features have been added to the regular cellular phone to be able to provide more services to the subscribers.

From calls and SMS, camera features were included and then music players followed; internet capability soon followed suit; wireless internet connection came after; and then online chatting; sending and receiving emails plus other internet applications were all thrown in for good measure.

As if that wasnt enough, people can now also view their favorite videos and movies; and also watch their favorite TV shows. Suffice it to say, cellular phones have developed from mere communications gadgets to total entertainment packages in a small and very compact portable box.
