Teleconferencing – The Latest Technology That Authorizes Virtual Meetings
Back in the day, to have a meeting you had to ensure that all participants could be at a proposed spot at the same time on the same day. They had to be ready to go and get business done. This could easily take up half of a day. Thankfully that is no longer the case.
Now, meetings are much easier to host and to attend. They’re not as boring and dull, and they are also quicker. This is all thanks to something called audio conferencing.
Sometimes audioconferencing is called teleconferencing, or teleseminar. This is a method for holding conferences via technology, generally through telephone or computer.
With this technology, a simple audio device attached to a phone can enable a meeting of more than five people. Because it isn’t about being in the same place at the same time, this meeting can happen anywhere, any time.
Talk about a plus! If you have access to a phone, you can be part of the meeting that is being held. You can participate fully even though you are not ‘there,’ you don’t even have to have business clothes on!
Since so many people have to travel on business, this is very helpful. Bosses on business trips can still attend critical meetings. And employees who work from home can come ‘in’ for the meeting via phone, without having to actually come in.
Most of the audio conferencing held is used for business. Still, you can use this for pleasure too. Plenty of people use audio conferencing to keep in touch with friends and family who may live across the country, or across the world!
It works easily so long as a few guidelines are met. One important one is for all participants to have the correct time for the conference and the correct dial in number. Without these, they will not be able to participate. It’s also important for participants to know what the meeting will be about before it starts, so they can come prepared. Audioconference meetings should not be allowed to drag on.
